Why pause AI in Nigeria?

Nigeria's digital economy is on track to exceed half a trillion dollars in value this decade, and a large share of future growth depends on trust in digital infrastructure and public institutions. If frontier AI systems are deployed at speed without proven safeguards, key sectors including finance, law, media, and healthcare could face rapid disruption before workers and regulators are prepared.
